What is Counselling

Lenka_Collins_counselling_prague

Counselling offers guidance to understand oneself, one’s place in the world and to understand one’s relationships, objectives, motivations and therefore choices. Counsellor is someone who will objectively and honestly guide you in a safe and confidential environment, to understand the conflicts of your own experience in life. Although every counsellor has their own unique way of working, the outcome of such meetings with a counsellor is in general the same. This includes helping to make the right decisions and wiser choises in all aspects of our lives etc.

People require counselling for various reasons. Whatever the reason, counselling involves change. This ‘change’ is to be expressed in actions along with sufficient insight. It is intended to improve one’s well-being.

What counselling is not:

Counselling is not about solving problems ´for or instead´ of the person seeking advice. Counselling is strictly professional and remains so throughout the meetings and continues to stay professional after the meetings has come to an end.

Counsellors are not  psychologists or psychiatrists therefore are not preoccupied with diagnoses of client’s mental wellbeing and no medication such as anti-depressants will be ever prescribed.
